WHere do you fit in?
I am sitting here thinking about the usual - the state of the world, how it is freaking me out a bit, and that there has never been a time in our world’s history when we have had more. More money, more access to information, more comfort, just more, more, more.
Yet my heart still feels heavy because I think in many ways we have never had less. Less time, less health, less satisfaction with life, and less certainty about what tomorrow holds for us.
And so the question becomes, where do each of us fit into this world of both less and more?
I keep thinking about why I ask you so many questions. The world is FULL of people who are happy to tell us what they think, but I find what I want is to encourage you to think.
Maybe we all need more thinking and less doing? I don’t know. It feels like from where I sit and from what I’ve seen that there is plenty of doing. And, when not doing, there is plenty of feeling guilty about not doing.
Any of that sound familiar?
Of course then the next thought that always pops us for me and maybe you is: yes, but…
Yes, that would be nice, but I need money, clean clothes, to help my family out, to buy food, and the list goes on and on and on.
And doing what needs to be done and then after it is done, is it often exhaustion that hits. Yes, it would be nice to think, but I am tired, exhausted, overwhelmed, fatigued, and just plan sad. So I don’t want to think, I want to be distracted.
I totally get that. Enduring what is becomes more tolerable when we can distract more and feel less.
In this world of more and less, what are our ratio’s? What do we want our ratio’s to be? So here we are again, at yet another question to think about.
